The premise of Storybird was “art-inspired storytelling.” We curated beautiful illustrations and writers used them as scaffolding—a way into the story and around a blank page. That simple hook led to a publishing, teaching, and ecommerce platform where 10m members in 1m schools created 35m stories, some 150x the output of the entire children’s and YA publishing industry.
